Use Case · Connected Business Services

Your business directory can be the beginning, not the limit.

A directory helps people find businesses. What if the same information could also support verified profiles, better discovery and new services for business participation?

Avato can connect a familiar website to the systems and processes behind those services—without making website replacement or centralized control a prerequisite.

Start with a useful outcome

Make existing business information more useful.

The challenge is not necessarily to build a new website. It may be to connect existing information to processes that require review, validation, updates and controlled sharing.

Help people discover businesses

Bring relevant information together for search and discovery while keeping authoritative records where they belong.

Support verification

Introduce workflows for reviewing business information and recording decisions by the people or authorities responsible for them.

Connect to opportunities

Explore how trusted business information could support procurement discovery or other services, subject to the rules of the participating organizations.

These are possible applications to evaluate, not a statement of any prospective customer's approved requirements or deployed functionality.

Before / with connected services

Extend the investment instead of starting over.

Existing foundation

Website and directory

Profiles, listings, search, existing editorial workflows and established relationships.

Potential next phase

Connected business services

Information updates, verification workflows, integration with authoritative sources and participation in new programs.

How the pieces fit

Keep the website. Add capability behind it.

A web team can continue owning the visitor experience, while Avato supplies configurable orchestration between the application, existing records and new services.

Working with partners

Build on the capabilities each partner already brings.

The website, infrastructure, business rules and integration platform do not all need to come from one supplier.

Experience and relationships

Website and application teams can retain responsibility for the public-facing experience and customer relationship.

Operations and hosting

Deployment can be designed around the customer's approved operating environment and support arrangements.

Integration and orchestration

Avato can provide configurable interfaces, transformation, coordination and operational visibility behind the experience.

These are possible responsibility boundaries, not commitments by any named partner.

Experience and evidence

Building on the sâkâhikan pilot.

Avato delivered a pilot for Indigenous business information and procurement participation with CANDO and NACCA. The work included reusable architectural models, integration and application capabilities that can inform future projects.

The pilot is not represented here as a live production service. A new initiative would require its own requirements, governance decisions, implementation scope and production readiness work.

What would make the existing service more useful?

Start with the desired outcome, the information and systems already in place, who has authority to make decisions, and what a manageable first phase could deliver.
