Stable interfaces
Applications could depend on durable service boundaries rather than the internal contracts of an individual core system.
Avato in Practice ยท Financial Services
A long-lived core banking environment needed to evolve without forcing every dependent application and channel to change at the same time.
Situation
The architectural challenge was not simply introducing a new banking platform. It was insulating dependent applications from core implementation details so modernization could proceed incrementally.
Avato's role
Applications could depend on durable service boundaries rather than the internal contracts of an individual core system.
Canonical business representations and transformation logic could be reused as additional systems and channels were added.
Integration behaviour, operational policy and message handling lived in the orchestration layer rather than being scattered across consumers.
What remained afterward
As later initiatives were introduced, established interfaces and business representations could be reused instead of rebuilding point-to-point integrations. The integration layer became a durable enterprise asset rather than a project-specific bridge.
Why it matters
This implementation demonstrates the central Avato idea: reduce coupling before, during and after replacement so systems can evolve independently while useful assets accumulate across successive projects.
